Used Gear: Spring Cleaning

There’s something about the changing of seasons that make us want to start fresh. To clear space for new opportunities, new adventures and maybe even new gear.

In honour of spring cleaning, we’re sweetening the deal when you trade in Used Gear. Throughout the month of March, when you trade in* eligible Used Gear, in addition to getting 20% of the original retail value of your gear back as a gift card, you’ll be automatically entered to win signed Used Gear from Arc’teryx Athletes.

Greg Hill, Michelle Parker and Jonathan Siegrist have taken stock of their gear, cleaned up their closets for Spring and are generously passing on some special Arc’teryx gear they’ve loved to three people who also believe in keeping good gear in action. These jackets come stacked with stories of epic days outside and they’re ready for their next chapter with you.

For our U.S. guests: to participate, please bring your used gear to any store/outlet or trade it in online.

For our Canada guests: please bring your used gear to your closest store/outlet.

When you trade in determines whose gear you could win, so check out the details below.

Trade in March 1-10 | Win Greg Hill’s Rush Jacket (Size M)

What gets you excited about Used Gear?

Greg: “One of the best ways to make a product more sustainable is to have it last longer, and the Used Gear program does exactly that: it gives another life to my gear. As a professional athlete I am privy to a lot of great gear and being able to pass it on is exciting! I like knowing that my gear is living a longer life and its purpose is being fulfilled.”

What is one of your favourite memories in the piece you are trading in?

Greg: “I’m kind of sad to see this piece go – I have had some incredible days shredding the couloirs off the Revelstoke Mountain Resort in this setup. Especially this year, where I have skied many new lines locally. Here I am shredding the NE of Goat Peak.”

Trade in March 11-20 | Win Michelle Parker’s Sentinel LT Jacket (Size S)

What gets you excited about Used Gear?

Michelle: “Finding the right home for my used gear is incredibly important to me. I want the new owner to give new life to whatever the item may be and ultimately to keep it out of the landfill and in use for as long as possible. As a consumer, we have a responsibility to vote with our dollar and make conscious purchases. Buying second hand is a great way to reduce waste as is using our gear until the bitter end of its life.”

What is one of your favourite memories in the piece you are trading in?

Michelle: “My favourite memory in this jacket was taking it on a 1000 plus mile bike ride from Lake Tahoe to the North Cascades with Cody Townsend for his goal of skiing the 50 classics in North America. We were able to ski three of the classic lines on this trip starting at Mt. Hood, then Rainier, and finishing off with El Dorado in the North Cascades. This was the hardest physical and mental push I have ever done in my life, but it was also the most gratifying adventure. This jacket has been to the top of some of the most beautiful views and not to worry as it is still in pristine shape.”

Michelle’s Sentinel LT Jacket is in a colourway that never made it to market, making it a truly limited edition piece!

Trade in March 21-31 | Win Jonathan Siegrist’s Nuclei FL Jacket (Size S)

What gets you excited about Used Gear?

Jonathan: “This gear just lasts so incredibly long if properly taken care of, so I love the idea of passing on something that you’re not utilizing anymore because for sure there is someone out there that will use it non-stop. I’ve often traded with friends because I like an older style or fit better, and that used piece of gear just goes right into my regular rotation for years and years.”

What is one of your favourite memories in the piece you are trading in?

Jonathan: “The Nuclei has been a staple piece of mine for a year or so. I took this piece with me on road trip through a bunch of crags in the Eastern US last fall. Many good memories of long days at the crag and cold nights in the camper in this piece for sure!”
