Following the brand’s partnership announcement with materials manufacturer ALUULA Composites, Arc’teryx has been working to develop a new lightweight construction method. Dedicated to continuous innovation and problemsolving for the mountain athlete, Arc’teryx obsesses over developing innovative solutions for fast and efficient travel in the mountains.

Inspired by the brand’s coveted Alpha FL pack, the new Alpha SL delivers the same performance and dependability, with significant weight savings, increased durability and recyclability. The Alpha SL offers an over 50% reduction in weight, making it an optimal choice for those looking to travel farther and faster in the alpine where weight plays a key factor in achieving modern objectives.

“Some of our athletes have logged 1,000 hours testing the Alpha SL, it is the lightest technical alpine pack the team has ever made, and it is built to last.”

“Arc’teryx was founded on a passion to build better gear for the activities we love. Our design team is guided by curiosity and always in search of a better way; we test with advanced materials, iterate with athletes, and obsess over the details until we get it right,” said Chris Hodgetts, Senior Design Director Hardgoods and Accessories.

Weighing in at just 428g (or 316g without the waistbelt or compression straps), the Alpha SL offers an unrivaled strength to weight ratio due to its three-layer construction of ALUULA Graflyte™️. Leveraging ALUULA’s material technology and Arc’teryx’s deep expertise in lamination and product innovation, the pack is assembled by a patented fusion process to bond high tech fibers and advanced space age materials together.

The result is a highly abrasion-and-water-resistant pack, without the bulk of wide seams and binding tape. The smooth surface significantly improves efficiency and removes potential points of failure. After serious use, punctures can be temporarily repaired in the field using strong, self-adhering patches, to help you keep the good in play. The Alpha SL Patch Kits will be offered at Arc’teryx ReBIRD Service Centres at no additional cost, beginning FW25.

“For seven months, I used the Alpha SL for everything: summer mountaineering, rock climbing, ice climbing, ski touring, and even the occasional overnight trip. The design is simple and functional, it excels in technical terrain but still performs well across a wide range of activities,” said Professional Mountain Guide and Arc’teryx Athlete Sam Hennessey. “All said, what really impressed me was the durability of the fabric. Despite being in use sometimes seven days a week, it still was in excellent condition! Not normal at all for a pack, and even less so for one with such a light weight.”

The Alpha SL Backpack is available for purchase online, in-stores and at specialty retailers in NA and EMEA.
