The Bird Reborn: Arc’teryx Returns to its Roots With New Pinnacle Hometown Store and ReBIRD™ Service Center in Kitsilano
NORTH VANCOUVER, Canada, November 18, 2022 | Arc’teryx Equipment, the global design company specializing in technical high-performance apparel and equipment, has opened a new retail brand store and ReBIRD™ Service Center in Vancouver’s Kitsilano neighbourhood.
A “pinnacle” location for the brand, the new Kitsilano location will stock the largest selection of Arc’teryx apparel and equipment of any store globally, from climbing gear to trail running, snow sports and accessories. The store will also stock the Veilance and System A collections. The fifth Arc’teryx brand store within Metro Vancouver, the new Kitsilano location will replace the existing West 4th store – a fixture in the community since 2013.
The store will host Vancouver’s first ReBIRD™ Service Center. ReBIRD™ is design for circularity – the home for all Arc’teryx’s initiatives in care and repair, resale and upcycling – and central to the brand’s commitment to a more sustainable future. A physical embodiment of this commitment, the ReBIRD™ Service Center offers a full suite of circular solutions for Arc’teryx products – from product care and repair education, through to complimentary on-site product assessment, light-touch repairs, technical washing and re-waterproofing on-site. This launch follows other ReBIRD™ Service Center openings in New York, Toronto, Boulder, Tokyo and Beijing.
“Seeing the first ReBIRD™ Service Center come to life in our hometown of Vancouver is a special moment for the brand,” said Dominique Showers, VP ReBIRD™, Arc’teryx. “We believe that the best way to reduce our climate footprint is to move toward a circular economy: creating durable products that last, giving guests the knowledge and tools to care for their gear, and solutions for resale and end of life. High quality gear, well cared-for, can last for countless adventures. We’re excited to expand our ReBIRD offering in the new Kitsilano store, making it easier than ever for guests to keep their gear in play.”
ReBIRD™ services offered will include:
Product assessment: in-store after-sales assessment, including GORE-TEX leak testing.
In-store washing: technical wash and DWR-reapplication.
In-store care & education: hands-on education about product care.
In-store repair: zipper repair services including slider, pull cord, pull and bottom box replacement; cord ends, cord locks, and buckle replacement; as well as adhesive patches and heat pressed internal patches.
Expert repair: colour choices are offered for GORE-TEX fabric replacement or full zipper replacement for repairs offsite.
In addition to the vast selection of Arc’teryx product and ReBIRD™ services, the new store location will also be a hub for the community. Working with likeminded partners in the local community, the store will host community events and activations including climbing gym nights, film screenings and group runs.
“The outdoor community in Vancouver is our reason for being, and holds a special place in the heart of the brand,” said Stephanie Jamieson, Director of North America Community. “For over 30 years, we have shared our love of the outdoors with our local community of mountain enthusiasts, advocates, ambassadors and outdoor organizations, and they have been integral in informing the gear we create. We’re so excited to build on this relationship with the opening of the new Kitsilano store, creating more opportunities than ever before to build connections and increase equitable access to the outdoor spaces we love.”
