Arc’teryx Announces Opening of New Retail Location in New York City and Curated Store Rebrand
NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia, July 17, 2021 – Arc’teryx Equipment, the global design company specializing in technical high-performance apparel and equipment, is continuing its retail expansion in the United States with a new Manhattan location, which will feature a newly rebranded micro-store concept, Arc’type, centered around the brand’s most renowned designs. This latest store, which will open across from Central Park on the Upper West Side, joins four other Arc’teryx New York stores, including Arc’teryx Factory Outlet in Woodbury, the Arc’teryx brand store in Soho, and the two Arc’type stores in the West Village and the Flatiron District.
“Originally referred to as Icon stores, our curated, neighbourhood-focussed concept will now be known as Arc’type,” said Delaney Schweitzer, Chief Commercial Officer, Arc’teryx. “Like our products, the name Arc’type is uniquely ours. The products available at these stores truly represent who we are – the designs are perfect archetypes of the brand.”
“The Arc’type store is a smaller store concept that features the Arc’type curated selection: 22 of the brand’s most noteworthy items. From industry-leading innovative products to award winners and your personal favourites, these items have been specifically selected to help introduce guests to Arc’teryx and exemplify the most appreciated and versatile products.”
The Arc’type assortment includes Arc’teryx’s very first jacket designed over 20 years ago, the Alpha SV, which is considered the pinnacle of outerwear design. Again in fall 2021, customers will find the brand’s first women’s parka, the Patera Parka, which has sold out every season since it was introduced in 2012. Guests who are new to the brand can quickly get a sense of what makes Arc’teryx a leader in performance outerwear, while returning guests will find their favorite and most celebrated designs easily.
The Upper West Side store will open on July 17, 2021, with grand opening celebrations on July 17 and 18, and Arc’teryx-led trail runs and learn to climb clinics the following week.
“Our goal has always been to enable people to get outside by building the best gear possible,” said Schweitzer. “By increasing our retail presence and engaging with local ambassadors, Arc’teryx is working to build strong outdoor communities that bring people together and encourage them to spend time outside. Whether it’s participating in an Arc’teryx clinic or taking a walk in Central Park, the Arc’type stores carry versatile essentials for all types of outdoor experiences.”
Key items from the Arc’type selection:
Originally released in 1998, the Alpha SV Jacket is a personal storm sanctuary benefiting from over 20 years of continual refinement and evolution. These incremental improvements keep it at the forefront of the industry. Extremely durable yet breathable, Alpha SV is designed to buy once, and love forever.
