Company furthers its commitment to preserving and defending the integrity of the public lands system
NORTH VANCOUVER, British Columbia (December 4, 2017) – ARC’TERYX, the technical leader in outdoor performance apparel and equipment, has donated the net proceeds of it’s US Ecommerce Sales from November 28th Giving Tuesday Initiative to The Conservation Alliance. Arc’teryx is donating an additional $30,000 to The Conservation Alliance’s Public Lands Defense Fund to help make grants protecting the US public lands system.
Arc’teryx alongside The Conservation Alliance and our peer member companies have worked vigorously to demonstrate support for National Monuments in the US, and to oppose any changes to their boundaries. Nearly three million Americans commented during the review period, 99 percent of whom urged President Trump to leave these special protected areas alone.
On Monday, President Trump signed an executive order that would reduce the size of two Utah Monuments: Grand Staircase-Escalante and Bears Ears. Native Americans, conservation and recreation groups, and outdoor businesses are filing lawsuits challenging the legality of the President’s authority to reduce the size of a Monument. The Conservation Alliance will make grants from the Public Lands Defense Fund to support this litigation.
“We are proud to contribute the net proceeds of our Giving Tuesday sales to support this important cause at this critical moment in US conservation.” Arc’teryx GM and President, Jon Hoerauf said. “We are investing in protecting America’s Public lands and amplifying the message that calls for state and national leaders to be held accountable for protecting these irreplaceable cultural and natural landscapes for future generations to enjoy.”
