Arc’teryx Athletes Jacob Slot and Seb Mayer Ski Mount Fuji

Arc'teryx athletes Jacob Slot and Seb Mayer completed a rarely seen winter ascent and ski/telemark descent of Japan's highest peak on February 9 and 10, 2014.

They arrived at the base of Mount Fuji facing the fact that a huge storm was on track to bring possibly 70 cm of new snow to the valley. With a short weather window they were still faced with wind-chill temperatures of -25C, making for a seriously cold bivy night.

They were a highly motivated group and together with friend Thomas Gstir, the three skied almost 2800 vertical meters of fresh snow down Fuji’s north face; nailing a beautiful descent on one of the most perfectly shaped volcanoes on earth.
